The first project is a composition made from various fruits and
veggies(from image files of course). I used a process I learned from
watching the bonus footage from the Pixar movie 'Wall.e', The character
designers needed to design a large number of robots for the spaceship
colony. In lieu of designing hundreds of individual robots, they created
thousands of parts in different sizes. A computer program took those
parts and made the robots. I made a PSD file with all of my parts, only I
did the individual designs. I didn't do anything too fancy, just some
drag and drop and free transforming.
I came up with a funny, clown-like face, and a cyclops face. These are my only concepts I took to a final design. The only transforming I did is some free rotation and horizontal flipping. I hope everyone enjoys my work! Let me know what you think.
After doing some digging around the internet on composite artwork, I came across an artist who uses a number of different materials(usually random) to create some interesting composite pieces. Erika Simmons uses just about anything to make works of art. Old sheet music, film reels, and a busted open baseball to name a few. Her work speaks to me in an ironic tone, I like this kind of artwork since it reminds of Magrittes artwork in terms of irony. While not all of her work comes from what I've mentioned if you look through her gallery, you will notice that a lot of her work has natural beauty and strong meaning between what she uses and the images she makes with them. I hope everyone like her work.
